About People Over Money

The real problem in our primaries isn’t just AIPAC.

It’s ALL Dark Money.

We are a coalition of organizations and donors who recognize that the current system of unlimited independent expenditures is distorting our primary elections, weakening trust, and undermining genuine representation. The outrage over spending by AIPAC, crypto, or AI-backed groups isn’t really about who is spending—it’s about the system itself. Independent expenditures, no matter the source, give outsized power to wealthy donors and organized interests, shaping who runs, what they say, and ultimately who governs.

This system creates dependency, fuels an unwinnable arms race against better-funded opponents, and erodes the parties’ credibility with voters who already suspect they are too tied to elite influence. Since most House seats are effectively decided in primaries, this is where concentrated money does the most damage—often influencing outcomes before voters even engage.

Our core goal is to democratize our primaries by reducing the role of undisclosed money. People Over Money aims to unite candidates, donors, and organizations around a shared commitment: reject independent expenditure campaigns in the primaries, adopt mechanisms like People’s Pledges, prioritize people-powered candidate campaigns over special-interest funding, and invest in ongoing, strategic voter engagement to bring disenfranchised to vote in the primaries.

By doing so, the coalition seeks to rebuild trust in American democracy and strengthen democratic accountability.
